On April 18th, 2016, the Clean Economy Alliance hosted a lunch reception at Queen’s Park. Sponsored by Ontario’s Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, the event demonstrated diverse support for climate leadership in Ontario and showcased the multi-sector expertise of the Alliance, with nearly 50 members in attendance.
We were joined by nearly 30 MPPs representing all three parties, including the Ministers of Energy, Municipal Affairs and Housing, and Environment and Climate Change; the opposition parties’ critics for Environment and Climate Change; and senior staff from the Premier’s Office and key ministries.
Our show of support for climate action came at a critical time, as the Climate Change Mitigation and Low-Carbon Economy Act was being debated at the Standing Committee on General Government, and Ontario’s climate action plan was due for release in the coming weeks. MPPs needed to know that the Alliance and its members are supportive of cap-and-trade and in favour of reinvesting proceeds in carbon reduction.
The Alliance showed up to show strong support for climate action in Ontario.
